The US Embassy in Dhaka has issued a statement congratulating the BNP and its party chief Tarique Rahman for their “historic victory” in the 13th parliamentary election.
The mission made the statement in a post on its official Facebook page at 7:48am on Friday.
“Congratulations to the people of Bangladesh on a successful election and to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Tarique Rahman on your historic victory,” it wrote.
“The United States looks forward to working with you to realize shared goals of prosperity and security for both our countries.”
